LIMA, Peru. Dominican Republic had an outstanding day at the XX Bolivarian Games Ayacucho-Lima 2025, thanks to the impressive performances in wushu, a historic achievement in golf and outstanding participations in table tennis, athletics and karate. The Caribbean country added 13 medals, consolidating itself in seventh position in the general medal table with a total of 64 medals (12 gold, 17 silver and 35 bronze).
Wushu: Mastery and Gold Medals
The wushu selection shone by obtaining eight medals: three gold, two silver and three bronze, surpassing their performance from the previous year. The athletes who conquered gold were:
- Jefry Báez (+56 and -60 kg), defeating Peruvian Henry Fernández 2-1.
- Elían Andújar Sena (+75 and -80 kg), with a resounding 2-0 victory over Héctor Reyes Núñez (VEN).
- Kelvin Luis Moquete (-56 kg), overcoming Peruvian Junior Huaman Orue 2-0.
The silver medals went to:
- Carlos Custodio (+65 y -70 kg), defeated by 0-2 by Venezuelan Jorman Serrano.
- Yordaly Durán (+70 y -75 kg), who fell 1-2 against Venezuelan José Montaño.
Table Tennis: Eva Brito Secures Silver
Eva Brito added a silver medal in the women’s singles table tennis competition. She fell in the final against Chilean Zhiying Zeng by 4-0 (11-8, 11-3, 11-4, 11-3). Brito had an outstanding performance, surpassing Judith Morales (CHI), Cristina Gómez (VEN) and Sofía Vega (CHI) in previous rounds. Yasiris Ortiz was out in the quarterfinals, while Esmerlin Castro fell in the round of 16 against Morales (CHI).Karate: Three Bronzes for the Dominican Delegation
Dominican karatekas secured three bronze medals:
- Ramphy Báez Bourbon (-67 kg), winner against Andree Quezada (BOL) in the repechage.
- Ámbar García Mañón (-55 kg), winner 6-2 against Hazel Ramos (ESA).
- Penélope Polanco Díaz, who defeated Ariane Monje (BOL) 14-4.
Golf: Willy Pumarol Makes History
Willy Pumarol made history for Dominican sports by winning the first golf medal in Olympic cycle events, obtaining the bronze with a total score of 274 (-10) after four rounds. In the final round, he signed 69 strokes (-2). Juan José Guerra, his compatriot, finished in 12th place (-3). The gold went to Manuel Torres (VEN) with -16, and the silver to Gabriel Morgan (CHI) with -15.Athletics: Bronze in Mixed 4×400 Relay
The mixed 4×400 team, composed of Bianka Acosta, Ferdy Agramonte, Estrella De Aza and Juander Santos, won the bronze medal with a time of 3:20.72. With this result, Dominican athletics concluded its participation with a total of 9 medals: 3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze.
Tennis: Peter Beltrán in Search of Bronze
Peter Beltrán fell in the semifinals against the Peruvian Akron Huertas (1-6, 6-2, 6-3) and will play for the bronze this Saturday against the Chilean Benjamín Torrealba Fede.Beach Volleyball
The male duo Hayerling De Jesús / Melvin De Jesús lost 0-2 to Colombia in the quarterfinals. In the women’s category, Julibeth Payano / Yari Cleto finished seventh after defeating Chile 2-1 in the consolation rounds.Road Cycling
Jesús Marte Céspedes was the best-placed Dominican, finishing in 11th place with a time of 3h 31:49. Steven Polanco arrived in 17th place and Rudy Germoso Gómez in 22nd, both with the same time.Equestrian

- Aida Sánchez Ravelo finished fourth (9.97).
- Juan José Bancalari Elmúdesi, fifth (13.24).
- Manuel Fernández Haché, ninth (20.32).
- Manuel Andrés Bancalari Elmúdesi, 21st place (56.61).
In individual jump:
- Sánchez Ravelo was fourth (4 points).
