Senate Recognizes Cristian Pinales for His Olympic Medal

The Senate of the Dominican Republic paid tribute to boxer Cristian Pinales this Monday, May 20, recognizing him for his outstanding performance at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where he won a bronze medal. This significant achievement elevates the name of the Dominican Republic in the international sports arena.

The act of recognition, headed by the Senate president, Ricardo de los Santos, highlighted Pinales’ discipline, effort, and personal development, emphasizing him as an example for national sports. It was emphasized that this distinction is awarded in recognition of the outstanding career of the young athlete.

Cristian Pinales was accompanied by his wife, Milena Altagracia Jiménez; his daughter, Britany Pinales; and his mother, Eridania Pinales.

The distinction was awarded following the unanimous approval of a resolution presented by the senator from La Romana, Eduard Espiritusanto, who emphasized the impact of Pinales’ performance both for his province and for the country. In addition, he highlighted that the medalist has earned the respect of the Dominican people and serves as an inspiration for the youth.

The resolution highlights that Cristian Pinales, originally from La Romana, is the second Dominican to win a bronze medal in Olympic boxing, in the 80-kilogram category. His outstanding performance in Paris 2024 culminated a successful cycle in the amateur circuit.

After his Olympic participation, Pinales announced his transition to professional boxing.
