RD ready for the offensive: Coach Mejía highlights preparation vs South Korea

Miami – Dominican Republic’s batting coach, Jorge Mejía, has confirmed that the team arrives in optimal offensive condition for the crucial matchup against South Korea in the quarterfinals of the World Baseball Classic. Mejía underscored the hard work done during the first phase of the tournament, where the Dominican offense demonstrated its power by scoring 41 runs and conceding only 10 to their opponents.

As always, it has been very intense work, with a lot of energy, concentration and information for the guys.

The coach also valued the work of René Rojas, analysis and strategy coordinator, highlighting his fundamental role in the collection and management of information about the rivals. Ahead of the match against South Korea, the Dominican coaching staff has been analyzing advanced data and scouting reports to study the pitchers of the Asian team, an opponent they did not face in the group stage.

We have staff working on ‘scouting’ to gather as much information as possible and be able to pass it on to the guys as fresh as possible.

Mejía also addressed the performance of some Dominican hitters looking to improve their performance in the tournament, including Manny Machado, ensuring that the team maintains its work routine.

They are very close. They continue doing their daily routine, taking good shifts and working hard. It’s a matter of time before everything clicks.

The coach also praised the performance of young infielder Junior Caminero, who has been one of the team’s offensive figures in the championship.

I’m not surprised at all by Caminero. He’s a special kid, with incredible talent and strength, as well as a great dedication to the game.
