DR Starts Preparations for the 2026 World Baseball Classic
Santo Domingo – The Dominican baseball team will begin its journey to the 2026 World Baseball Classic on February 28. The called-up players will meet in Miami to begin training before the tournament, according to general manager Nelson Cruz. March 1st will be dedicated to official practices, press sessions, photo sessions, and uniform adjustments. On March 2nd, the delegation will travel to the Dominican Republic to continue their preparation on home soil. This moment will mark a milestone for Dominican baseball, as it will be the first time in the 20-year history of the World Baseball Classic that the national team will play exhibition games in the country.The exhibition games against the Detroit Tigers, scheduled for March 3rd and 4th, will be the final phase of preparation before the team’s official debut in the tournament.“It’s going to be something historic. Never before had the Dominican team come to play in the country in a World Baseball Classic,” Cruz highlighted, who assured that both the players and the fans will live an unforgettable experience.
