José Ramírez, out of the lineup after being hit
Cleveland Guardians’ star third baseman, José Ramírez, was excluded from the starting lineup for Friday night’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The absence of Ramírez is due to discomfort in the right forearm, the result of being hit by a ball the previous day. The incident occurred during Thursday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays, when Kevin Gausman hit the Dominican slugger with a pitch in the fourth inning. Interestingly, in the previous entry, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had been hit by a fastball from pitcher Tanner Bibee, a situation that caused him to leave the game due to similar discomfort in his forearm. This is the third time Ramírez has missed a game in the 2025 season, and the first since May 3rd.Ramírez, 31 years old, is one of the most outstanding players in baseball. Currently, he has a batting average of .317, ranking sixth in the Major Leagues, and has stolen 21 bases, a figure that also puts him in a tie for sixth place in MLB. The Dominican is a finalist to start in the American League in the next All-Star Game, which will be held on July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta. His offensive consistency and leadership have kept him among the favorites to be part of the event. The club will continue to closely monitor the evolution of Ramírez’s injury, hoping that it is not something serious that compromises his short-term availability or his participation in the mid-season classic. We’re going to evaluate it day by day. The idea is that he can be back as soon as possible.
