San Francisco de Macorís – The scheduled game between the Águilas Cibaeñas and the Gigantes del Cibao, planned for this Monday at the Julián Javier Stadium, was suspended due to the heavy rains that are hitting the northeast region of the country.

The match, initially scheduled for 5:00 PM, underwent changes in its time due to adverse weather conditions. Subsequently, it was rescheduled for 7:00 PM, but was ultimately suspended altogether.

The suspension occurred after the Águilas Cibaeñas, already informed about the schedule change, did not move to San Francisco de Macorís.

This encounter represented the second of three matchups between both teams in the current Round Robin 2025-2026 of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), and the third of six scheduled commitments between Gigantes and Águilas at this venue.

The rescheduling of the match was set for Tuesday, January 6th.

This situation is uncommon at the Julian Javier Stadium, where a game had not been suspended due to rain since January 19, 2018, precisely in a game against the Águilas Cibaeñas.

The Emergency Operations Center (COE) has issued alerts for several provinces due to a trough and a frontal system, which have caused showers and thunderstorms in various areas of the country.

In the sports field, the situation is complex for the Gigantes del Cibao, who have a record of 0-7 in the Round Robin, placing them in the last position of the table and with little chance of advancing to the Final Series.
