Jon Rahm leads the European team for the Ryder Cup

Spanish golfer Jon Rahm, former world number one, has been selected to represent Europe in the upcoming Ryder Cup, marking his fourth participation in this prestigious tournament. The competition will take place in New York at the end of September. The European team captain, Luke Donald, announced the list of six players chosen to complete the twelve-player team that will compete at Bethpage Black from September 26-28. Rahm’s inclusion was widely expected, especially after his outstanding performance, although he hasn’t won any titles since September of last year. Alongside Rahm, Donald selected Shane Lowry (Ireland), Sepp Straka (Austria), Viktor Hovland (Norway), Ludvig Aberg (Sweden), and Matt Fitzpatrick (England). These players will join the six who had already qualified automatically based on their position in the world ranking: Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), Robert MacIntyre (Scotland), Tommy Fleetwood (England), Justin Rose (England), Tyrrell Hatton (England), and Rasmus Hojgaard (Denmark).

I didn’t think I was going to get so emotional. It’s going to be very special. I’m really looking forward to being at Bethpage. I hope we can do better than last time in the United States. It will be stressful, but fun.

Rahm expressed his enthusiasm after being confirmed in the team. He revealed that captain Donald informed him of his selection days before the official announcement.
