Rafa Mir Processed for Sexual Assault: Case Details
Forward Rafa Mir, currently on loan from Sevilla to Elche, faces charges for a sexual assault offense with carnal access and use of violence. Sources from the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community confirmed that a bail of 12,500 euros has been imposed on him.
In the same case, the footballer Pablo Jara has also been charged with a sexual assault offense, with a bail of 5,000 euros. Both players are summoned for an “investigative declaration” next Monday, October 13. In Mir’s case, and at the request of his lawyer, the declaration will be made remotely.
The instructor considers that there are indications, based on the proceedings carried out, that suggest that Mir sexually assaulted one of the two women on two occasions. The events occurred in the early hours of September 1, 2024, at Mir’s residence in Bétera, Valencia, specifically in the swimming pool and in a bathroom.
The judge has also found indications of a crime of sexual assault without carnal access and a minor offense of injury by Jara, in relation to the second woman.
The events occurred after the women met the soccer players and another friend at a nightclub in Valencia. Following the complaint by the two women, the police arrested Mir and Jara in September 2024. The complainants stated that Mir sexually assaulted one of them and that Jara made inappropriate touching and assaulted the other.
Mir, who spent two nights in detention, admitted to having had sexual relations, but claimed they were consensual.
The women reported that, after the incidents, they were kicked out of the house in their underwear. A neighbor alerted the police after hearing screams and seeing the women in the street.
Elche rules out disciplinary action against Rafa Mir, showing confidence in the player’s presumption of innocence. The club was aware of Mir’s situation before his incorporation and supports its coach, Eder Sarabia, who had already expressed his support for the footballer.
