Pujols Focused on the Success of the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic
The legendary Albert Pujols has a clear vision for the Dominican Republic’s participation in the next World Baseball Classic: to conquer the championship for the second time. The leader of the Dominican team, in collaboration with general manager Nelson Cruz, has worked hard on the selection of the team that will represent the country in the tournament. Pujols assured that the team is practically defined.Pujols acknowledges the importance of building a competitive team, especially after the performance in 2023, where the Dominican Republic was eliminated in the first round. The Dominican team is in Group D of the next World Baseball Classic, sharing a group with Venezuela, the Netherlands, Israel, and Nicaragua. The last time the Dominican Republic advanced to the second phase of the tournament was in the 2017 edition. In the previous edition, the team was eliminated in the first phase after suffering defeats.“I think there’s 95 percent of the roster that’s already formed. The other 5 percent is because we’ve been scouting several guys who are playing in the winter league who also have that chance to represent and I believe that our country and the fans are going to be happy and satisfied with the roster that Nelson Cruz and I and the group are forming,”
