Albert Pujols Highlights Brayan Bello’s Performance and the Dominican Offense in the World Baseball Classic

Miami – The manager of the Dominican Republic Baseball Team, Albert Pujols, expressed his satisfaction with the performance of pitcher Brayan Bello and the team’s consistent offense after the 10-1 victory over Israel in the World Baseball Classic. Pujols explained that Bello was initially planned to pitch four innings, but due to his good performance on the mound, his participation was extended.

We left him one more inning because he had more than 40 pitches in the fourth inning and we wanted four innings from him, but he felt very good and told me he wanted to pitch five innings. He did a tremendous job and kept the Israeli hitters off balance.

The Dominican strategist also referred to the home run that Bello allowed, highlighting that the pitcher took responsibility and acknowledged that the pitch was a strategic error.

He felt bad about that home run, but I told him to take it as a learning moment. These are experiences that will help him in the future because he is going to be very successful in the Major Leagues.

Our idea was to build a team that could cover every area during the tournament and give all the guys the opportunity to participate.

Regarding the Dominican offense, which has scored ten or more runs in three consecutive games, Pujols stated that it was the expected performance of the team.

When you look at the team we have, that’s the offense everyone expected. But the credit goes to the players; they didn’t come here to relax, they came to compete and win.

Despite the success in the initial phase, Pujols emphasized that the main goal is to win the World Baseball Classic championship.

This is just a step to the second round. Our mission is to win the tournament.
