Miami – The manager of the Dominican Republic Baseball Team, v, offered statements about the health of third baseman Junior Caminero after being hit by a pitch during the game against the Netherlands in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. The game ended with a Dominican victory by knockout, 12-1. During the press conference at LoanDepot Park, the manager explained that Caminero continued in the game and, despite the hit, even hit a home run.

“Caminero has been fine. You saw that he stayed in the game and then connected two hits. What he felt was more like a cramp, something normal when you get hit by a pitch in the elbow,” pointed out the Dominican manager.

“You have to give credit to the offense and the pitching. Tremendous work was done to keep the game under control, then we passed the ball to the bullpen and they did their job,” he affirmed.

“In the end, it doesn’t matter if you win by knockout, by one or two runs. The important thing is to win the game,” he expressed.

The former Major League player highlighted the dedication of the Dominican team, pointing out the commitment shown by the players from the beginning of the tournament. “The guys are super motivated, arriving early, doing their routine. We have good pitching, good defense, and a solid offense,” he explained. Finally, the leader reiterated the main objective of the Dominican team in the World Baseball Classic: to fight for the championship.

“Our mission is to try to win the championship. That is our focus,” he concluded.
