San Cristóbal, R.D. – Excitement and intensity took over the Techado Sports Center in San Cristóbal during a new day of the 2025 Superior Basketball Tournament. The teams of Pueblo Nuevo and Ciro Pérez shone with resounding victories, delighting the fans present.
Pueblo Nuevo: Victory with a Seal of Domain
In the first match of the night, Pueblo Nuevo defeated Buitres de Lavapiés with a score of 95-84. The stellar performance of Luis López, with 32 points, was key to the victory. López demonstrated once again his ability to lead his team’s attack.
Jean Quezada also had an outstanding performance, achieving a double-double with 10 points and 18 rebounds. His performance was fundamental in both defense and ball recovery, showing great chemistry on the court with López.
On the part of the Vultures, Jeison Colomé scored 24 points, while Robert Martínez contributed 11 units. Despite their efforts, they could not counteract the pace and depth of Pueblo Nuevo.
Ciro Pérez: A Triumphant Return
The second game of the day marked the return of Ciro Pérez, a historic club in the basketball of San Cristóbal. After a two-year absence, Ciro Pérez celebrated its return with an 89-86 victory over the Huracanes de Madre Vieja.
Bernardo Polanco led Ciro Pérez’s offense with 27 points, demonstrating his leadership in the critical moments of the game. Kelvin Furcal also shone with a double-double of 16 points and 17 rebounds, dominating the painted area and providing solidity on both sides of the court.
Najib Ramos, with 15 points and a perfect 5 of 5 in three-pointers, was decisive in maintaining the lead in the final minutes, consolidating his team’s victory.
The tournament, celebrating its 35th edition, is organized by the San Cristóbal Basketball Association (ABASANCRIS), chaired by Eddy Montás, and is supported by the Ministry of Sports, EGEHID, and the Banreservas Cup, reflecting the institutional commitment to the sports development of the province.
The action continues this Sunday from 11:00 a.m. with a triple header, where the teams will seek to climb positions and continue igniting the passion of basketball in San Cristóbal.
