Fort Myers – Star Venezuelan pitcher Pablo López, a key piece in the Minnesota Twins’ starting rotation, faces a setback. The team announced this Tuesday that López suffered a “significant tear” in the ulnar collateral ligament of his right elbow.
This injury could require reconstructive surgery, commonly known as Tommy John, a procedure that would involve a long recovery period.
López was forced to leave a live batting practice session last Monday due to discomfort in his throwing arm. An MRI confirmed the severity of the injury.
If the surgery is confirmed, this would be the second time López undergoes Tommy John surgery in his career. This type of intervention requires extensive rehabilitation before the player can compete again.
The team has not yet provided details on the estimated recovery time or the impact this situation will have on the starting rotation, pending further medical evaluations.
