O&M Defeats Cibao FC in Exciting LDF Match
SAN CRISTÓBAL – Universidad O&M defeated Cibao FC with a score of 2-1, taking advantage of their home field at the Panamericano stadium in San Cristóbal. The match, corresponding to matchday 5 of the Dominican Republic Football League (LDF 2025-2026), was dedicated to the memory of José Rafael Abinader.
The goals for O&M were scored by Julen Olasagasti and Herard Frantzety. For their part, Ángel Pérez, who came on as a substitute, scored the only goal for Cibao FC.
With this result, O&M adds 10 points, the product of three victories, one draw and one defeat. Cibao FC, for its part, remains with 9 units, after three victories and two defeats.
Cibao FC, the current champion, showed a less energetic performance, possibly due to the accumulation of matches: seven in 22 days, with 630 minutes played, including international commitments and a trip to Barbados.
In the 30th minute, Carlos “Caballo” Ventura of Cibao FC generated a dangerous play that Rivaldo Correa could not convert.
In the second half, Cibao FC intensified their attack, generating shots that challenged the university goalkeeper.
Julen Olasagasti, in the 37th minute, opened the scoring for O&M, establishing a 1-0 lead.
The second goal for O&M came at the beginning of the second half, in the 47th minute, thanks to Herard Frantzety, extending the lead to 2-0.
Cibao FC made changes, including the entry of Javier Roces and Walter Acuña, and later, Ángel Pérez, who scored a goal in the 70th minute, shortening the distance to 2-1.
In the last few minutes, Cibao FC made more changes, seeking to reverse the score.
The starting eleven of Cibao FC was formed by Miguel Lloyd, Julio César Murillo, Ernesto “Che” Trinidad, José Conesa, Kleimar Mosquera, Jean Carlos López, Gonzalo Alarcón, Rivaldo Correa, Carlos “Caballo” Ventura and Edwarlyn Reyes.
