Olympic Torch Arrives at the National Police: Start of the Military and Police Sports Games

The Olympic torch, symbol of the LV Military and Police Sports Games, has arrived at the National Police. This event marks the official start of the long-awaited sporting event, which will tour various institutions before its culmination.

The torch’s journey began in the Armed Forces and included a stop at the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD). The welcoming ceremony at the National Police was led by General Raúl Esteban Mora Hernández, ERD, president of the Sports Confederation of the Armed Forces and the National Police.

General pilot Euler Sierra Pérez, inspector general of the Dominican Republic Air Force (FARD) and president of the Games Organizing Committee, was also present. The activity was attended by General Juan Hilario Guzmán Badía, deputy director general of the National Police, and General Jacobo Mateo Moquete, director of Sports of the National Police, along with other authorities.

The torch’s journey began at the Ministry of Sports (MIDE) and continued through the Dominican Republic Army (ERD), the Dominican Republic Navy (ARD), and the Dominican Republic Air Force (FARD), before arriving at the National Police.

Subsequently, the call will visit the Dominican Olympic Committee and will culminate next Monday at the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (MIDEREC).

Among the officers present were Colonel José Luis Hernández Javier, Deputy Director of Sports of the ARD; Colonel Rennie Figueroa, Director of Sports of the FARD; and Colonel Felipe Céspedes Tejera, of the ERD.

The LV Military and Police Sports Games represent one of the most important competitions on the country’s institutional sports calendar.
