Shohei Ohtani set for his third start with the Dodgers

Japanese star Shohei Ohtani prepares for his third start of the season, a highly anticipated event for baseball fans. The Los Angeles Dodgers will face the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium this Saturday, June 28th. Manager Dave Roberts confirmed that the first pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET. This will be a new opportunity for Ohtani to demonstrate his progress after his second Tommy John surgery. In his previous two outings, Ohtani has been used as an “opener”, pitching only one inning in each game. In his debut, he threw 28 pitches, followed by 18 pitches in his second appearance. So far, Ohtani has pitched two complete innings, allowing two hits and one run, without issuing any walks and with two strikeouts. His fastball has reached speeds of up to 100 mph, showing positive signs in his recovery.

The team will continue to closely monitor the evolution of Ohtani’s arm.

Although there is no specific limit on pitches or innings set, the team will be attentive to the evolution of Ohtani’s arm. There is a possibility that he will pitch at least part of a second inning, depending on the pitch count.

Ben Casparius, who has relieved Ohtani in his previous two starts, could take over from the bullpen again on Saturday. The focus is on Ohtani, who, in addition to being an offensive threat, continues his comeback as a star pitcher in the Major Leagues.
