Lando Norris Wins in Miami Sprint Qualifying

British driver Lando Norris, behind the wheel of a McLaren, has secured pole position for the sprint race of the Miami Grand Prix, marking a milestone for the team in the fourth round of the Formula 1 world championship.

Norris achieved the best time in the sprint qualifying, stopping the clock at 1:27.069 and surpassing his competitors by a significant margin.

Italian Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes), current championship leader, placed second, 222 thousandths of a second behind Norris.

Oscar Piastri, also from McLaren, will complete the first row in third position, demonstrating the strength of the British team on this day.

The second row will be made up of Piastri and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari).

Max Verstappen (Red Bull) will start from fifth position.

The sprint race, scheduled for 19 laps, will award points to the top eight finishers.

In the grid, the participation of the Argentinian Franco Colapinto also stands out, who will start from eighth position, alongside the seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso, both of Spanish nationality, will start from 15th position and the back of the grid, respectively, on a complicated day for Aston Martin.

Sergio Pérez, from Mexico, will start the race from 19th position.

The championship arrives in Miami after a period of inactivity due to the cancellation of races in the Middle East. During this time, the FIA implemented adjustments to the technical regulations with the aim of balancing the use of electrical energy and improving track safety.

With this result, McLaren shows signs of recovery after an irregular start to the season, establishing itself as a major contender for the race weekend in the United States.
