Lando Norris leads second day of Formula 1 pre-season testing in Bahrain

British driver Lando Norris, representing McLaren, stood out by setting the best time on the second day of Formula 1 pre-season testing held in Bahrain. He surpassed the Dutchman Max Verstappen, from Red Bull Racing, and the British George Russell, from Mercedes-AMG Petronas.

Spanish driver Fernando Alonso, driving an Aston Martin F1 Team car, finished the morning session with the ninth-best time. Alonso completed 40 laps, a significant increase compared to the previous day, focusing on collecting data and evaluating sensations with the single-seater car.

The Aston Martin team opted for a cautious strategy, prioritizing technical adjustments and analysis instead of seeking fast times. The plan is for Alonso to continue running in the afternoon with more extensive simulations to continue evaluating the AMR26. On Friday, Canadian Lance Stroll will take the wheel.

Norris achieved a time of 1:33.453 using soft tires, the best time so far in the trials. His session was briefly interrupted when his car stopped during a practice start due to excessive turbo demand. Verstappen was only a tenth of a second behind with the same compound.

Lewis Hamilton, from Scuderia Ferrari, completed only five laps due to configuration tests. A striking technical detail was an aerodynamic innovation on the Ferrari, an element of the wing that rotated to reduce drag and increase top speed.
