SANTO DOMINGO.- The Baseball Operations management of the Leones del Escogido, national two-time champion team, announced the continuity of Héctor Neris and Jimmy Paredes for the next season.
Neris and its Impact on the Montículo
Right-handed reliever Héctor Neris, a key piece in obtaining the 18th crown for the Lions during the 2025-26 season, will continue to contribute his talent to the team. At 36 years old, Neris proved to be a dominant pitcher.
In the aforementioned season, Neris pitched 14.0 innings, 12 of them in the postseason, with an ERA of 0.64, a WHIP of 1.07, and a total of 13 strikeouts. In the playoffs, opposing batters only managed a .135 batting average against him.
With 12 years of experience in the Major Leagues, the native of Villa Altagracia has pitched 114.2 innings in his career in Dominican winter baseball, with an earned run average of 2.55, a WHIP of 1.21 and 98 strikeouts.
Walls and His Career with the Reds
Jimmy Paredes, 37 years old, will also continue defending the colors of the Escogido. Recently, Paredes participated with the team in the 2026 Caribbean Series in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he stood out with a .500 average in the preliminary round, including a home run and a run batted in.
The scarlet captain, a native of Santo Domingo, completed his eleventh season with the Lions and the 16th in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (Lidom). Throughout his career in regular series, Paredes bats .236, with 120 RBIs, 113 runs scored, 12 home runs and 42 doubles in 319 games.
Neris and Paredes join Junior Lake, Sócrates Brito, José Marmolejos, Erik González, and Alexander Colomé, who also renewed with the club as free agents. Each of them will be in their mutual option season, granting the Leones the right of reserve for the 2027-28 tournament.
