Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal underwent surgery this Thursday due to severe arthrosis in the trapeziometacarpal joint of his right hand. The operation was performed at the Teknon Medical Center in Barcelona. Sources close to the winner of 22 Grand Slam titles confirmed the news. The injury affected the joint located between the base of the thumb and the wrist, which caused him pain and limited his functionality. The procedure, an arthroplasty, aimed primarily to alleviate pain and restore mobility.
