Santo Domingo, R.D.
Major League Baseball (MLB) has announced a restructuring of its operations office in the Dominican Republic, which implies the departure of its director, Yerik Pérez, along with other members of the local team.
This decision, made by mutual agreement, ends a stage that began in 2019 with Pérez at the head of the Dominican delegation. MLB expressed its gratitude to the outgoing professionals, recognizing their years of service and their dedication to the development of baseball in the region.
“The work done by Yerik Pérez and his team has been significant for our operations in the Dominican Republic. We wish them success in their future projects.”

Pérez, a lawyer and specialist in sports law, held various positions within MLB since 2009. As a director, he led important initiatives in compliance, institutional development, and relations with academies and prospects, in a key country for American organized baseball.
“This stage concludes with satisfaction and gratitude. MLB has been a school and a family. Now I prepare to take on new challenges always linked to sports.”

MLB’s office in Santo Domingo, established in the year 2000, functions as a strategic link to ensure that the academies, leagues, and operations of the 30 Major League teams comply with national and international regulations. The Dominican Summer League, managed from that headquarters, is a showcase for young Latin talents.
With this transition, MLB reiterates its commitment to transparency, compliance, and the strengthening of its programs in the region, preparing for a new phase in its relationship with the Dominican baseball community.
