It’s an honor for our team, our city, and our state. We play in a world-class city, especially beautiful in the summer, and we are eager to welcome the best players and fans in the world.

A Centenary Tradition
This will be the fourth time the Cubs host the All-Star Game, adding to the 1947, 1962, and 1990 editions. With this, Wrigley Field joins Cleveland’s Municipal Stadium and the old Yankee Stadium in New York as the only stadiums to have hosted the event on four occasions. In the last edition held in Chicago (1990), Ryne Sandberg and Andre Dawson, local figures, were part of the National League’s starting lineup, and Sandberg won the Home Run Derby. The recent announcement has an emotional significance, as it comes a few days after the death of Sandberg, a Hall of Fame member, remembered for his legacy.
