Ministry of Youth and Santo Domingo Norte City Hall Deliver Sports Courts

The Ministry of Youth, in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Santo Domingo Norte, has materialized the delivery of sports courts in various sectors of the municipality. This initiative, framed within the “Una Cancha Pa’ Mi Barrio” and “Juventud con B de Barrio” programs, has the main objective of promoting healthy recreation and the integral development of youth. The award ceremony took place at the Santo Domingo Norte City Hall and was attended by prominent figures. Among them, the Minister of Youth, Carlos Valdez, and Mayor Betty Gerónimo, along with local authorities, community leaders, and young beneficiaries.

These courts are a tool to boost talent, promote values, and continue building safer environments for our youth.

Carlos Valdez, Minister of Youth
During his intervention, Minister Carlos Valdez highlighted the importance of this program, which seeks to provide concrete opportunities for young people in their communities. The creation of adequate sports spaces is fundamental for practice and coexistence. For her part, Mayor Betty Gerónimo highlighted the active participation of the City Hall in this project. She explained that the survey carried out by the city council made it possible to identify the areas with the greatest need for sports spaces. This facilitated a more effective intervention, contributing to the well-being of the communities and the strengthening of the social fabric. The delivery of these courts is the result of a joint effort between the Ministry of Youth and the Mayor’s Office of Santo Domingo Norte. Teamwork and the territorial survey carried out by the local government were key to the successful implementation of the program. “A Court For My Neighborhood” is part of the Ministry of Youth’s strategies to expand access to sports and generate development opportunities for young people throughout the country.
