Dominican tourism bets on Olympic baseball

Miami – The Ministry of Tourism, led by David Collado, has announced its official sponsorship of the Dominican baseball team for the upcoming Los Angeles Olympic Games. This initiative is part of the government’s commitment to support sports and promote the Dominican Republic internationally. The announcement was made at LoanDepot Park, during the World Baseball Classic semi-final, where the Dominican Republic faced the United States. Collado explained that this support is part of a comprehensive strategy to promote sports tourism and strengthen the nation’s image abroad.

“The Ministry of Tourism is going to strongly support the Federation for the Los Angeles Olympics. This is a commitment we are making because that medal belongs to the Dominican Republic,” said the minister.

The minister highlighted the positive impact that the Dominican team’s performance in the World Baseball Classic has had, especially in the US market, the main source of tourists for the country. Also present at the event were Kelvin Cruz, Minister of Sports; Nelson Cruz, general manager of the Dominican team; and Juan Núñez, president of the Dominican Baseball Federation, who acknowledged the government’s support for national baseball. Nelson Cruz highlighted the importance of institutional support in the team’s formation and the strengthening of Dominican baseball, thanking the authorities for their support. The authorities agreed that the performance of the Dominican team has generated great enthusiasm among fans and has helped project the image of the country in international sporting events.
