Mexico Prepares for the 2026 World Cup: Official Trophy Presentation

Mexico City – In a significant event marking the start of the countdown, the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, presented the official trophy of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The announcement was made during her morning conference at the National Palace, 100 days before the start of the tournament that promises to be an unforgettable event. The opening match will take place on June 11th in Mexico City, marking the beginning of a month of intense football excitement. The president, while showing the prestigious trophy, emphasized the importance of the event for the new generations.

“For the boys and girls who are in school and will then watch the conference on social media, today we bring you the Cup”, said the president.

The trophy will be awarded to the champion team on July 19, culminating a tournament that promises to be historic. The presentation was attended by Gabriela Cuevas, representative of the World Cup organization, and the former Brazilian footballer Bebeto, world champion in 1994.

An Inclusive World Cup

During the event, Louis Balat, director of Coca-Cola Mexico, highlighted the commitment to turn the World Cup into a celebration that goes beyond the stadiums, seeking the inclusion of all sectors of society.

“Our goal is for this World Cup to be for everyone, that it be experienced in the squares, in the streets and in the communities of every corner of the country,” said the executive.

Balat also highlighted the pride that it represents for Mexico to host this sporting event, becoming the only country to organize three World Cups, after the 1970 and 1986 editions.

Trophy Tour in Mexico

The trophy will go on a national tour, visiting 10 cities with free access for the public. This initiative will allow thousands of fans to get closer to the most important symbol of world football. The organizers seek to inspire children and young people, motivating them to practice this sport and be part of the future of football.

Mexico, along with the United States and Canada, will host the 2026 World Cup. The country will host a total of 13 matches in the cities of Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey. President Sheinbaum reiterated FIFA’s confidence in the organization of the tournament on Mexican soil, highlighting the support of the organization’s president, Gianni Infantino.
