Messi Shined in New York and Took Home the MVP of the Day

Lionel Messi continues to dazzle in the MLS. The Argentine star, after his outstanding performance against the New York Red Bulls, was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the matchday. This is the fifth such recognition that Messi receives this season.

On Saturday, Inter Miami, led by a Messi in a state of grace, crushed the Red Bulls with a resounding 1-5. The match marked the end of the regular season before the All-Star break.

Despite starting the match at a disadvantage with a goal by Alexander Hack for the Red Bulls, Messi took the reins of the game. With two goals and an assist, he led his team’s comeback. Jordi Alba also contributed with a goal, assisted by Messi, and Telasco Segovia scored a brace.

In the second half, Messi sealed the victory with two more goals, demonstrating his excellent current form.

Messi has accumulated twelve goals in his last seven league games, including six doubles. So far this season, he has scored 18 goals in 18 MLS games.

The Argentine forward shares the top spot on the MLS goalscorers’ chart with Nashville’s Sam Surridge, both with 18 goals.

Inter Miami is positioned in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with 41 points. In their next match, they will face Cincinnati, the conference leader with 48 points.
