Messi misses friendly in Puerto Rico due to injury
Argentine star Lionel Messi will not be able to participate in the friendly match that Inter Miami CF had scheduled in Puerto Rico due to a muscle injury. The injury occurred during the club’s recent pre-season match in Ecuador. The match, which was to be held at the Juan Ramón Loubriel stadium in Bayamón against Independiente del Valle, was suspended after the injury to the captain of the Argentine national team was confirmed. Messi suffered a hamstring strain in his left hamstring during the match against Barcelona SC, being forced to leave the field. The forward explained through a video posted on his social media that, after the injury, it was decided to postpone the commitment as a preventive measure. The friendly was part of the “Champions Tour”, an international tour that took the MLS team through cities like Lima, Medellín, and Guayaquil.Although the club has not provided a specific timeframe for recovery, the suspension of the match will allow Messi to have several additional days for his rehabilitation before the team’s official debut in the MLS, scheduled for February 21.
Inter Miami has confirmed that the friendly has been rescheduled for February 26, against the same opponent and in the same place.Messi reiterated his desire to play before the Puerto Rican fans on the new date.We are aware of the expectation that exists and it will be very nice to be able to play there soon.
