Messi and Alba miss the MLS All-Star Game

The Argentinian star Lionel Messi and the Spanish left-back Jordi Alba, both Inter Miami players, will not participate in the Major League Soccer (MLS) All-Star Game against the Liga MX stars. MLS confirmed the absence of both players from the official rosters for the match, which will be held at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. Although Messi and Alba were initially included in the list of those summoned, they will finally not be present. The MLS did not specify the reasons for their absence.

The participation of both Inter Miami players was in doubt after missing the training sessions prior to the match. Alba also planned to compete in the skills competition. In other cases of players who will not be in the All-Star game, MLS did reveal the reasons for their absence. In 2018, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was suspended for one match for not attending the All-Star game, unless a player is injured. Messi also missed last season’s All-Star, citing an injury.
