Freddy Peralta misses the 2025 All-Star Game
Dominican pitcher Freddy Peralta will not be present at the 2025 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, an event that will be held on Tuesday, July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta.
The news was confirmed by the Milwaukee Brewers and MLB, who reported that closer Trevor Megill, also of the Brewers, will take Peralta’s place on the National League roster.
The main reason for Peralta’s absence is that he is scheduled to open Sunday’s game against the Washington Nationals, which prevents him from participating in the mid-season All-Star game.
This is the third confirmed absence of Dominican players for the event, following the absences of José Ramírez (Cleveland Guardians) and Jeremy Peña (Houston Astros), who will not be able to participate for medical reasons.
In contrast, young Junior Caminero, of the Tampa Bay Rays, was announced as a new member of the American League roster and will also participate in the 2025 Home Run Derby.
Freddy Peralta is demonstrating one of his best seasons in the Major Leagues. In 105 innings pitched, he accumulates a record of 10-4, with an outstanding ERA of 2.74, 111 strikeouts and only 36 walks allowed. His WHIP is 1.086, his FIP is 3.68 and his ERA+ is 147. His bWAR is 2.8, which positions him as one of the most outstanding Dominican starters of the season.
With Peralta’s absence, Randy Rodríguez, a reliever for the San Francisco Giants, is the only Dominican pitcher on the National League roster with a chance to play in the 2025 All-Star Game.
