Miami, USA – The Miami Marlins have reached a one-year agreement with versatile Dominican infielder Christopher Morel, according to a source familiar with the situation.
The Miami team, which had kept a low profile during the Winter Meetings, finalized this signing on Friday, adding depth and experience to its infield.
Morel, 26, joined the Tampa Bay Rays from the Chicago Cubs during the 2024 Trade Deadline. In the 2025 season, he participated in a total of 154 games.
During his time with Tampa Bay, Morel exhibited an offensive line of .208/.277/.355, connecting 14 home runs and accumulating 42 RBIs.
Following the conclusion of the season, the Rays decided not to extend him a contract offer for 2026, making him a free agent.
