SANTO DOMINGO – The Miami Marlins officially kicked off the international signing period for the year 2026, with the incorporation of 21 young prospects. The event took place at their academy located in the Dominican Republic.
The announcement was led by David Hernández-Beayne, the club’s international recruitment director. Hernández-Beayne highlighted the diversity and talent of the new group, which is mainly composed of players from Venezuela and the Dominican Republic.

Among the most prominent names are the Venezuelan Santiago Solarte, as well as the Dominicans Ronny Muñoz, Carlos de los Santos and the right-handed pitcher Eliezer Peralta.
Santiago Solarte, a 17-year-old left-handed shortstop, standing 1.95 meters tall, was ranked number 16 in MLB Pipeline’s 2026 international prospect ranking. Solarte stands out for his offensive and defensive projection in the infield.
Ronny Muñoz, also 17 years old and a shortstop of 1.78 meters, occupied the number 27 position on the same list. This confirms the Marlins’ interest in strengthening their minor league system with high-level talent in key positions.
The Miami franchise continues to bet on international development as one of the pillars of its sports structure, with the aim of building a solid base of young players with the potential to impact the Major Leagues.
The Marlins will start the 2026 regular season on Friday, March 27, facing the Colorado Rockies on Opening Day. The game will be played under the lights, at 7:10 PM.
