SANTO DOMINGO.– The Miami Marlins officially kicked off the 2026 international signing period, incorporating 21 young prospects in a ceremony held at their academy in the Dominican Republic.
The event was attended by David Hernández-Beayne, the club’s international recruitment director, who highlighted the diversity and talent of the new group. This group is made up of players mainly from Venezuela and the Dominican Republic.
Among the most outstanding prospects are the Venezuelan Santiago Solarte, and the Dominicans Ronny Muñoz, Carlos de los Santos and the right-handed pitcher Eliezer Peralta.
Santiago Solarte, a 17-year-old left-handed shortstop, 1.95 meters tall, was ranked number 16 in MLB Pipeline’s 2026 international prospect ranking. Solarte stands out for his offensive and defensive projection in the infield.
Ronny Muñoz, also 17 years old and a shortstop of 1.78 meters, occupied the number 27 position on the same list, which confirms the Marlins’ interest in strengthening their minor league system with high-level talent in key positions.
The Miami organization continues to bet on international development as a key component of its sports structure, seeking to build a solid base of young players with the potential to impact the Major Leagues.
The Marlins will begin the 2026 regular season on Friday, March 27, facing the Colorado Rockies on Opening Day, at 7:10 PM.
