Seattle Mariners Prioritize Jorge Polanco’s Continuity
Santo Domingo – The Seattle Mariners have set their sights on securing the Dominican infielder Jorge Polanco’s permanence as one of their main goals this offseason. This is indicated by a report from the Seattle Times.
After securing first baseman Josh Naylor with a five-year, $92.5 million contract, management has made it clear that keeping Polanco is a “priority”.
The 32-year-old player comes from a standout season in 2025, where he played a crucial role in Seattle’s victory in the American League West Division, an achievement not seen since 2001.
In 524 plate appearances, Polanco recorded an offensive line of .265/.326/.495, including 26 home runs. His arrival from Minnesota proved to be a success for the team.
Polanco, recognized for his offensive ability, mostly served as a designated hitter to avoid physical problems, due to previous hamstring and knee discomfort. Although his defense is not his strong suit, his versatility and production make him a valuable asset for Seattle.
The report also suggests that the organization does not rule out the return of the Venezuelan Eugenio Suárez, thus showing the team’s intention to maintain the core of the team that starred in one of the best seasons in the franchise’s history.Cincinnati Reds Confirm Elly De La Cruz Injury
Additionally, the Cincinnati Reds have clarified the situation regarding the injury of Dominican Elly de la Cruz, after doubts arose about the severity of his condition.
Nick Krall, president of operations, confirmed that the shortstop suffered a strain, or partial tear, of the left quadriceps. This injury accompanied him for much of the 2025 season, but did not prevent him from continuing to play.
