Manhattan shooting suspect had NFL as primary target

New York City Mayor Eric Adams confirmed this Tuesday that the perpetrator of the fatal shooting that occurred on Monday in downtown Manhattan had as his main target the offices of the National Football League (NFL), according to initial investigations. The incident, which left four people dead, including an officer from the New York City Police Department, has caused great shock in the city. Mayor Adams reported that a note written by the attacker was recovered, in which he blamed the NFL for his mental health condition, indicating that he suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease associated with repeated head impacts. The shooter, a 27-year-old man whose identity has not yet been officially revealed, was described as a former high school football player, with no college or professional experience in the sport.

He had a note with him. The note alluded to the fact that he felt he had CTE, a brain injury known in those who participate in contact sports. Apparently, he blamed the NFL for his injury.
