Madrid – The organizers of the Madrid circuit, venue for the Spanish Formula One Grand Prix from September 11 to 13, plan to hold a national race before the main event. This initiative seeks to be a general rehearsal, allowing to verify that the layout meets all the necessary requirements for the competition.
Pre-Grand Prix Test
José Vicente de los Mozos, president of the Ifema Executive Committee, revealed this proposal and the contacts established with the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation. This last entity would be responsible for supervising and approving the preliminary test. The revelation came during a visit to inspect the works of the new circuit, located in the fairgrounds and the Valdebebas neighborhood.De los Mozos referred to the incident that occurred at the Las Vegas urban Grand Prix last November, where a manhole cover caused the interruption of the training sessions. According to the Ifema executive, the planning of this event is being coordinated between the circuit management, known as Madring, the Motorsport Federation and the High Council for Sports.“Our idea is to hold a lower-level race before September 11th to test that the cars pass and that what happened in Las Vegas doesn’t happen to us”
