Machado reaches 1000 hits with Padres and leads rout of Twins

MINNEAPOLIS – Manny Machado reached a significant milestone by hitting his unstoppable number 1,000 with the San Diego Padres jersey, during the 12-3 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Saturday night. Machado’s historic hit came in the sixth inning, initiating an offensive explosion for the Padres, who overcame a 3-1 deficit, scoring 11 runs between the sixth and eighth innings to secure the victory. In addition, Machado drove in a run in the seventh inning, consolidating the definitive lead.

San Diego’s offensive featured the outstanding performance of Elías Díaz, who hit two home runs, including a two-run homer in a seven-run seventh inning. Ramón Laureano also contributed with a two-run homer in the eighth inning, extending the lead. The Padres’ attack intensified after a defensive error by Brooks Lee, allowing the Padres to punish Minnesota’s bullpen. Fernando Tatis Jr., Luis Arráez, Ryan O’Hearn, and Jake Cronenworth joined the offense with key hits, with Cronenworth driving in two additional runs with a double. With this victory, the Padres demonstrated their offensive ability, connecting 13 hits to stay competitive in the National League.
