LVBP Resumes Semifinal Round Robin on February 7th
The Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) has officially announced the resumption of the semifinal Round Robin, following a temporary suspension. Activities will restart next Wednesday, February 7th.
The LVBP announced that, in collaboration with the qualified teams, information will be provided in due course regarding the restructuring of the calendar. The main objective is to ensure the normal development of the competition and complete the current phase of the tournament.
According to sources, the resumption will follow the schedule originally planned for Wednesday 7th. On that date, the Navegantes del Magallanes will face the Águilas del Zulia, while the Cardenales de Lara will play against the Caribes de Anzoátegui.
Both games are scheduled to start at 7:00 PM.
If actions resume normally, the matches suspended between Saturday 3rd and Tuesday 6th, a total of 10 matches, could be recovered by scheduling doubleheaders or adjustments to the calendar, including possible modifications to the start date of the final series.Economic Impact of the Suspension
The suspension of four full game days represents a significant economic impact for the LVBP. The league’s main source of income comes from ticket sales, in addition to the sale of food and beverages, official merchandise, and sponsorships.
In recent seasons, the league has recorded a cumulative attendance of nearly 1.9 million fans, adding together the regular season and the postseason. For the 2025-26 campaign, the average ticket price has ranged between US$3 and US$50, depending on the stadium and location.
With an estimated average attendance of 7,000 fans per game and an average ticket price of US$15, each game could generate around US$105,000 in ticket sales alone, a figure that highlights the magnitude of the economic loss caused by the temporary suspension of the tournament.
