Defined Opening Rotation
The Dominican leader, Albert Pujols, has defined an initial rotation that includes Christopher Sánchez, Brayan Bello, Luis Severino, and Sandy Alcántara. However, Castillo is emerging as a key option within the Designated Pitchers Group (DPP), a strategic resource to reinforce the pitching staff after the first round of the tournament. This mechanism allows teams to make adjustments to their pitching staff, providing flexibility in the face of potential eventualities. The DPP system: A strategic advantage
The DPP system allows each federation to include up to six additional pitchers eligible to be called up after the initial phase of the tournament. Teams have the possibility of substituting up to four pitchers after the first round and a maximum of two after the quarterfinals, as long as they are previously registered. This strategy expands the options of the leaders, who can adapt to the circumstances of the game, including the performance of the pitchers, possible injuries or physical wear and tear.Rivals with outstanding figures
Other contending teams have also incorporated prominent figures into their reserve lists.- José Berríos and Alexis Díaz for Puerto Rico.
- Jesús Luzardo with Venezuela.
- Tatsuya Imai for Japan.
