Santo Domingo – The Dominican Municipal League (LMD) continues to promote local development throughout the national territory. A prominent example is the province of San Cristóbal, made up of 8 municipalities and 9 municipal districts.
During the 2021-2025 management, led by Víctor D’Aza, these demarcations have received significant support for the execution of infrastructure projects, the acquisition of equipment, and the carrying out of cultural activities. The total investment amounts to RD$396,642,463.27.
Key Investments in San Cristóbal
An important part of the investment has been allocated to the Local Governments Support Program, developed by the LMD with funds from the Presidency. Through this program, the 17 local governments of the province received transfers for RD$220,952,449.03 for the construction of sidewalks and curbs.
In addition, RD$102,909,128.39 was invested in road asphalting projects in the most populated municipalities: San Cristóbal, Bajos de Haina, Villa Altagracia and San Gregorio de Nigua. RD$28,489,885.85 was also allocated to support the construction of service infrastructures, such as funeral homes, cemeteries, markets and slaughterhouses.
Programs with Own Resources of the LMD
With its own resources, coming from savings and institutional restructuring processes, the LMD has promoted the Equipment Acquisition Support Program. 8 compacting trucks were delivered, valued at RD$32,686,000.00, to strengthen the municipal cleaning service.
Also, through the Municipal Good Performance Incentive Program, two municipalities (San Cristóbal and Villa Altagracia) and two municipal district boards (Los Cacaos and El Carril) were benefited with financial support of RD$7,500,000. This allocation is based on the results and progress achieved in strengthening municipal management, according to the criteria of the Municipal Administration Monitoring System (SISMAP Municipal).
