New York, United States – The New York Mets have received positive news this week. Star shortstop, Francisco Lindor, has had the stitches removed from his left hand, which keeps him on track to be available on Opening Day. The Puerto Rican player underwent surgery on February 11th to treat an overload reaction in the left hamate bone.

He will be able to resume impactful activities in approximately two to three days.

Lindor has participated in defensive drills with his teammates, although he is not yet fielding ground balls due to the bandage on his hand. Despite this limitation, the shortstop has remained active in spring training. The organization estimated a six-week recovery period following the injury, which would put him back just in time for Opening Day week. The Mets will start the season on March 26 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, so Lindor still has a chance to be in the lineup. In the last four seasons, Lindor has only missed 15 games, despite dealing with back, finger, foot, and elbow discomfort. In 2023, Lindor had a batting average of .267, an on-base percentage of .346, and a slugging percentage of .466, in addition to hitting 31 home runs and stealing 31 bases, achieving his second 30-30 season in three years.
