Santo Domingo – The Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) has announced that the 2026-2027 autumn-winter championship will be posthumously dedicated to Héctor Rizek Llabaly, a prominent businessman and founder of the Rizek Group, who recently passed away. The decision, made unanimously by the Board of Directors, is a tribute to his outstanding career, his business legacy, and his constant support for the development of sport in the nation.
Vitelio Mejía Ortiz, president of the league, highlighted the significant impact of Rizek Llabaly on Dominican society, emphasizing both his human quality and his commitment to the progress of the country. LIDOM underscored that this recognition aims to preserve the legacy of a key figure in the business world, whose influence was also crucial for the promotion of sports and national development.
