Licey: Varela, Watson, and Espino Finalize Contracts; Blue Gratitude

SANTO DOMINGO – The Tigres del Licey announced this Sunday the end of the participation of Edgar Varela, who served as offensive coordinator, along with the imported pitchers Ryan Watson and Paolo Espino. The contracts of the three ended in the 2025-26 season of autumn-winter baseball. The team’s management expressed its gratitude to Varela for his dedication, who led the offense for four consecutive seasons, starting with the 2022-23 campaign. His work was fundamental in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 championships, and also in reaching the Finals Series last season.

Pitchers Statistics

Regarding the pitchers, the following performances were recorded:
  • Ryan Watson: Appeared in 13 games as a reliever, with an ERA of 3.97. He accumulated 11 strikeouts and six walks in 11.1 innings pitched.
  • Paolo Espino: Made three starts, pitching 8.1 innings. He allowed 15 hits and seven earned runs, with seven strikeouts and one walk, achieving an ERA of 7.56.
