Licey Secures Continuity with Retention of Key Players
The Club Atlético Licey has announced the retention of a significant group of key players for the upcoming season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). This strategic decision seeks to maintain the team’s strength and ensure the continuity of its main figures.

Among the pitchers who will remain on the team, the experienced right-handed starter César Valdez stands out. Alongside him, Albert Abreu, Carlos Contreras, and Elniery García return, reinforcing Licey’s pitching staff.
In addition, relievers Ofreidy Gómez, Ulises Joaquín, Adonis Medina, and Wander Suero were also confirmed for the upcoming season. This group of pitchers was fundamental in the team’s performance during the past campaign.
In the previous season, the team led the regular season in earned run average with 3.72 and in collective WHIP with 1.35. Jean Carlos Mejía, the team’s closer, led the league in saves with eight.Reinforcements in the Infield and Gardens
Regarding offense and defense, Licey also ensures the continuity of important figures. Shortstop Sergio Alcántara will continue defending the infield, accompanied by Michael De León, Ramón Hernández, and Domingo Leyba.
Likewise, the club exercised the option of a second year of contract for infielders Gustavo Núñez, Gold Glove winner and second in stolen bases with 19, and Cristhian Adames, who finished fourth in hits with 52 and in doubles with 11.
In the gardens, Luis Barrera, Emilio Bonifacio, and Mel Rojas Jr. also agreed to stay with the team. Rojas Jr. was third in walks received during the season with 31.
