Licey Tigers Secure Gerardo Casadiego as Pitching Coach for the 2025-26 Season
SANTO DOMINGO – The Tigres del Licey have officially announced the hiring of Gerardo Casadiego as their new pitching coach for the 2025-26 season. The season is scheduled to begin on October 16th, with an anticipated match between the capital teams.Casadiego, 44 years old, currently serves as a coach for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre team, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. He has held various roles in the minor leagues of the New York organization. His career as a coach in the Yankees organization began in 2012, after finishing his career as an active pitcher.We are hiring a baseball man who knows the characteristics of the winter leagues, has a lot of experience at various levels of this industry and will help us maintain the high quality we have had as a team in terms of pitching, which has been key in these last three seasons.

The native of Barquisimeto, Venezuela, comes from being the pitching coach of the Tigres de Aragua in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League during the 2024-25 season. Previously, he was part of the coaching staff of the Cardenales de Lara and Navegantes del Magallanes in the winter league of his native country. In other matters, the Club Atlético Licey expresses its gratitude to Rafael Chaves, who will not be able to continue in the position due to unforeseen family commitments. During his time as pitching coach for the blue team, Chaves led the Tigers to obtain their 24th crown in the 2023-24 season and to reach the final series in the following tournament.It’s a challenge for me as a professional and at the same time it’s a tremendous opportunity. I take on this commitment with great responsibility and promise to give the best of my abilities to be able to contribute my knowledge to a team as emblematic as Licey.
