Licey Tigers Roar to Victory Against the Toros del Este

Santo Domingo – Los Tigres del Licey demonstrated their offensive power in an exciting match against the Toros del Este, culminating in a 6-3 victory at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium. The game, corresponding to the 2025-26 Winter Baseball Tournament, saw the blues react strongly in a crucial seventh inning. Luis Campusano and Mel Rojas Jr. connected singles that drove in runs, leading a four-run rally that sealed the Licey victory. This result ends a streak of five consecutive losses for the national champions, who now improve their record to 10-16. The Toros del Este, for their part, fall to 13-13.

Brilliant Relief and Timely Offense

Reliever Misael Tamárez (2-0) earned the victory after pitching the seventh inning without allowing any runs. Kelvin Cáceres (0-1) took the loss, while Jean Carlos Mejía pitched the ninth inning to secure the save. The blue opener, Radhamés Liz, had an outstanding performance, pitching 5.0 innings in which he allowed two runs, three hits, one walk and struck out seven batters. He was relieved by Luis Frías in the sixth and Wander Suero in the eighth.

The Licey Tigers’ offense shone with several key players. David Hensley, Luis Campusano, and Cristhian Adames each hit two hits. Mel Rojas Jr. contributed with a two-run single and Luis Barrera drove in a run with a hit.

Bryan De La Cruz led the Toros del Este’s offense, with an outstanding performance at bat, going 4-4, including a home run. Manuel Peña also hit a home run.

The Toros took the lead in the third inning with two runs, driven in by a hit from De La Cruz and a two-run home run by Manuel Peña. The Licey responded in the bottom of the same inning, tying the score 2-2 with RBI singles from Hensley and Barrera, and a run scored by Campusano due to a wild pitch.
