Lions of Santo Domingo break losing streak against Cañeros del Este

In an exciting match played this Thursday at the Eleoncio Mercedes Sports Center, the Leones de Santo Domingo managed to defeat the Cañeros del Este with a final score of 87-84, ending a streak of four consecutive losses in the 2026 season of La Súper Liga de la LNB. Kerry Richardson was key to the Lions’ victory, standing out with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Gerardo Suero also had an outstanding performance, contributing 18 points and 5 steals. Reggie Quezada added 16 points, 8 assists and 5 steals, while Romaine Thomas contributed 14 points and 9 rebounds.

For the Cañeros, Martin Smith Jr. led the attack with 18 points, followed by Corey Boyd with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Brayan Martínez contributed 12 points and Matt Herasme added 9 points and 6 assists.

The first quarter was dominated by the Cañeros, with a score of 22-19. However, the Leones managed to tie the game in the second quarter, although the Cañeros went into halftime with a slight lead of 44-39. In the third quarter, the Lions took the lead with an 11-0 run, extending their lead to 66-60 at the end of the period. The partial scores of the match were: 19-22, 20-22, 27-16 and 21-24 for the Lions. This Friday, the Reales de La Vega will face the Héroes de Moca at 8:00 PM at the Palacio de los Deportes Fernando Teruel, while the Gigantes Basketball Club will play against the Metros de Santiago at the Mario Ortega in San Francisco de Macorís at 8:30 PM.
