San Cristóbal, R.D. – Los Buitres de Lavapiés secured their place in the final of the Superior Basketball Tournament of San Cristóbal (TBS San Cristóbal) after a dominant victory over Pueblo Nuevo with a score of 89-67, in a match full of emotions held in the local sports center.
This triumph positions the Vultures as the second finalist of the tournament, who will face the Canastica Wolves, starting Sunday, December 21st at 12:00 noon, in a final series of the best of five games.
The Lavapiés team controlled the game from the start, thanks to solid teamwork and relentless defense that limited Pueblo Nuevo’s offensive options.
Key Figures of Triumph
Rey Abad’s performance was fundamental, achieving a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, demonstrating his dominance in the paint and being crucial in offensive rebounds.
Randy Bautista, as a point guard, stood out by contributing 12 points and 15 assists, solidifying himself as the brain of the offense and setting the fast pace that characterized the team.
Jeison Colomé, with his usual consistency, scored 22 points, showing his scoring ability from various areas. Isaac Soler contributed 21 points, being effective both from long distance and in his drives to the basket.
From Pueblo Nuevo, the Suero brothers were the most outstanding, with Gerardo Suero contributing 17 points and Juan Miguel Suero adding 14 units; however, they failed to maintain the pace and effectiveness that characterizes them.
Rubén Mejía finished with 10 points, although he was well contained by the Buitres’ defense.
With this victory, the Vultures confirm their status as title contenders, reaching the final with an experienced and motivated team. For their part, the Canastica Wolves also arrive with great momentum, led by Edgar Tejeda and Juan Rosario, in a series that promises to be vibrant and full of local talent.
The grand final, agreed to the best of five games (5-3), begins this Sunday, December 21st at 12:00 noon, in a setting that promises to be packed with passionate fans.
