San Cristóbal, R.D. – Los Buitres de Lavapiés secured their spot in the final of the Superior Basketball Tournament of San Cristóbal (TBS San Cristóbal) after defeating Pueblo Nuevo with a score of 89-67, in a match full of emotions.
With this triumph, the Vultures are preparing to face the Wolves of Canastica in the final series, which will begin this Sunday, December 21st at 12:00 noon, in a best-of-five series (5-3).
The Lavapiés team dominated the match thanks to their collective play and a solid defense that limited Pueblo Nuevo’s offensive options.
Rey Abad’s performance was fundamental, achieving a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, demonstrating his power in the paint and being key in recovering the ball.
Randy Bautista, with 12 points and 15 assists, led the game, organizing the offense and setting the team’s pace.
Jeison Colomé scored 22 points, showcasing his scoring ability from various areas, and Isaac Soler contributed 21 points, being effective both in long-distance shots and penetrations.
Pueblo Nuevo: Insufficient Effort
From Pueblo Nuevo, the Suero brothers stood out. Gerardo Suero scored 17 points and Juan Miguel Suero added 14 units, although they failed to maintain the level of previous games.
Rubén Mejía finished with 10 points, being controlled by the Vultures’ defense.
The anticipated final shows the Vultures as strong contenders, led by experienced players eager for a championship.
The Canastica Wolves, who defeated Ciro Pérez in the other semifinal, also arrive with great momentum, led by Edgar Tejeda and Juan Rosario.
The grand final, scheduled for the best of five games (5-3), will begin this Sunday, December 21st at 12:00 noon.
The tournament is organized by the San Cristóbal Basketball Association (ABASANCRIS), led by Eddy Montás, and has the support of the Ministry of Sports, headed by engineer Kelvin Cruz, as well as the backing of the Banco de Reservas and the Dominican Hydroelectric Generation Company (EGEHID).
The general admission costs 100 pesos per person, ensuring a family-friendly, safe, and highly competitive event.
