Jimmy Cordero talks about his arrival to the Gigantes del Cibao
Santo Domingo.- Pitcher Jimmy Cordero shared his first impressions as a new member of the Gigantes del Cibao, after being transferred by the Leones del Escogido. Despite the initial surprise, Cordero was motivated and grateful for the warm welcome received in his new team. The reliever highlighted the fluidity of his integration into the team, facilitated by prior contact with several players and members of the coaching staff.“Yes, I really didn’t expect to be part of a change. I stayed in the organization for a long time because of how well we got along and the good treatment. But this is a business and any modification is always aimed at improving the team”,
Jimmy Cordero
Cordero revealed that it was the manager of the Escogido, Carlos Peña, who informed him of the news of the transaction.“This has been an exemplary welcome, up to par. Most of us know each other in the league, we’ve been together before on different teams. It’s been a good start and it was really what I expected”,

Playing at the Quisqueya stadium with a new jersey has been an emotional process that Cordero faces with maturity.“It was expected to be him, especially after hearing rumors. I spent a lot of time with them and a text message is not enough. There had to be a formal farewell. All that cost, because there is mutual affection”,

Despite his arrival at the Giants, Cordero feels no added pressure nor the need to prove anything.“Emotions are a separate sense. I can’t get carried away by sadness or happiness. I spent a lot of time with them, but I must keep emotions under control because this game depends on that too. Of course there is a little sadness, but this is a business and you have to move on”,
Jimmy Cordero
“One continues with the same mission and the same plan, to give 100% in every opportunity. It could serve as a boost, but in the end it’s the same game, only the team changes. There’s nothing to prove. We already know each other and we just have to move forward and do our best,”
