SANTIAGO DE LOS CABALLEROS – In a memorable night at the Cibao Stadium, the Leones del Escogido defeated the Águilas Cibaeñas with a final score of 6-0. The game marked the first victory of the new scarlet manager, Ramón Santiago, in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM).

Domain on the Monticule

Travis Lakins’ stellar performance was key to the victory. The pitcher controlled the Eagles’ offense for 4.0 innings, allowing only two hits, without giving up walks and striking out four batters. Escogido’s relief maintained the pressure, with solid performances by Diógenes Almengó, Fernando Abad, Robinson Martínez and Trevor Kelley, who completed the shutout.

Timely Offensive Attack

The Lions’ offense made itself felt early on. In the third inning, they manufactured two runs. Junior Lake hit a double, Erik González advanced to third and scored thanks to a single by Héctor Rodríguez. Elier Hernández drove in the second run with a double.
